What we keep, and why.

What we collect

Your email address when you join the free list, subscribe, set up a reader account or write to us, plus the name you choose to give. Payments are handled by Stripe on its own pages; we never see your card number. Our reader accounts store a hashed password (we cannot read it), the time you last signed in, and whether your email has an active subscription.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which stories are read and from where. It sets cookies and records your IP address in shortened form. You can block it with a browser setting or an ad blocker; the site works without it.

Cookies

Beyond analytics, the site sets a language cookie when you choose Ukrainian or Urdu, a session cookie when you sign in, and a small one-time notice cookie after some actions. Nothing is shared with advertisers.

Email

The free briefing goes out from our own server to addresses that confirmed they want it; every message has an unsubscribe link. Account emails (invitations, password links) go only to the address on the account.

Your rights

Write to the desk to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Unsubscribing removes you from the list at once; deleting an account removes it within a few days.
